In Armenia, Rosa hemisphaerica produces less seeds compared to other rose species growing wild there, and the fruits are fleshier. In addition there is a near absence of the irritant fine hairs that are found between the flesh and the seed of all rose species. This means that it is often favoured over other species when wild harvesting the fruits for food, medicine etc[

We have no specific information regarding the edibility of this species, but the fruits (more correctly the hips) of all rose species are edible, thogh often rather less than desireable. The best forms develop a sweet, soft flesh that is very rich in vitamins and minerals, though in many species the fruits remain hard and dry. Some care has to be taken when eating the fruit, see the notes above on known hazards.
The yellow or orange, globose or short-ovoid fruit of this species is 15 - 18mm long[
