Neolitsea aurata is native to the warm temperate and subtropical climate of southern China, southern Japan and northern Vietnam. It is unlikely to be hardy outside the warmer regions of the temperate zone.
A dioecious species - both male and female forms must be grown if fruit and seed are required.
