Clematis alpina
(L.) Mill.
Ranunculaceae
We are treating Clematis alpina here in the sense of Yang, W.J., Li, L.Q. & Xie, L. (2009). A revision of Clematis sect. Atragene (Ranunculaceae) Journal of Systematics and Evolution 47: 552-580.
This, in particular, treats Clematis ochotensis (Pall.) Poir. and Clematis sibirica (L.) Mill. as asubspecies of Clematis Alpina (as Clematis alpina subsp. ochotensis (Pall.) Kuntze & Clematis alpina subsp. sibirica (L.) Kuntze respectively). This extends the range of Clematis alpina considerably. Originally considered to be restricted to mountainous regions through Europe, in its wider sense the species is now considered to extend throughout the temperate, mainly mountainous regions of Eurasia.
