General Information

Boehmeria sieboldiana is a clump-forming, herbaceous perennial plant, often robust and thick stemmed (up to 8mm in diameter), growing up to 130cm tall[].
The plant is used as an ingredient in commercial cosmetic preparations. It is sometimes grown as an ornmental in gardens, valued as an architectural plant and for its ability to attract pollinating insects to its flowers.
Boehmeria sieboldiana is known from more than 200 collections from many different locations in a wide range of habitats, and some of these collections are recent. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2013)[].
