General Information

Yucca endlichiana is an evergreen, succulent, perennial plant, forming a rosette of spear-shaped leaves. The plant propagates by rhizomes and forms colonies from 1 to 3 metres in diameter[]
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a source of fibre. It is grown as an ornamental, valued especially for its red flowers[].
Yucca endlichiana is only found in five to six locations, both its population and its habitat are in decline due to the illegal collection of plants and seeds for horticulture, overgrazing and road construction. The plant is classified as 'Endangered' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2020)[].
