Calophaca grandiflora comes from the semi-arid regions of central Asia where it experiences hot, dry summers and cold winters. It can tolerate winter temperatures down to around -15°c when dormant, but only so long as the soil is well-drained. It requires hot summers to really thrive and flower well[
